Kozmo Gastro Pub - 11890 Douglas Road, Alpharetta GA

So a couple of weeks age, co-worker sent me the web link (http://www.kozmogastropub.com/) this place and asked if I'd ever been there.  I go to the website to see what this place is about...upon perusing the website I found myself intrigued; it looked like a really cool after-work spot...I must check it out!

Fast forward to last Thursday...a friend and I went to Kozmo after-work for happy hour.  Now, it's tucked away in a strip mall (the last place I would expect it to be based on the pictures on the website).  The place appears bigger on the website, and not nearly as NY loft chic in person.  Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the bar & menu offerings.  Thursday nights ladies get 1/2 off all appetizers all night long...it's their 'Sexy in the Suburbs' (play on Sex in the City) theme night.

We started with drink orders: I had the Caramel Pear Martini...let me just say OMG!!!! Awesome!!! My friend ordered the Kozmojito, which I ordered for my 2nd drink...very nice.  Now food...we start with some of the small plate offerings....deviled eggs, calamari, and a side of the white velvet mac n' cheese (parmesan, white cheddar, mozzarella and blue cheese).  I'm usually skeptical of eating deviled eggs outside of the ones I make at home, but figured what the hell. So glad we ordered them...many people don't put a touch of pepper in the deviled eggs just to kick it up a notch, and the biggest mistake is usually not enough salt.  Neither was the case here.  They were not only subtlely peppered but seasoned...yes they use salt!  Not enough to preserve you or induce cardiac arrest, but just enough to bring out the flavor of the food.  Thank you!!  Next, the calamari...really, really good.  Not chewy, perfectly fried and served with a very nice chili dipping sauce. The mac n' cheese is smooth, rich and flavorful.

In the meantime, the crowd is starting to fill-in, as the DJ is still trying to get setup...he was very entertaining.  Interesting to see the ladies of the neighboring surburban developments come out and try to embrace the whole Sex in the City theme...some achieve it, but far more don't...I'll give them a B- for effort.  Apparently, this place really gets crunked about 7pm.

For dinner: I ordered the Fish Tacos and my friend ordered the fish and chips. I so wish I took a picture of her face when her food arrived...LMAO!  No way did she ever expect to see that much food.  My fish tacos were wonderful...great size pieces of fish, lightly battered, and nicely fried.  The slaw was fresh and crisp and the spicy mayo had a nice kick to it.  The fish and chips looked amazing...they have the biggest steak fries I've ever seen. I tasted one and it was fantabulous.

Dessert:  Oh, dessert...Rum glazed pineapple upside down cake with ice cream...need I say more! Yes, I must...I'm still craving another serving of this magnificent dessert...DELISH.

I can truly say I was very pleasantly surprised by Kozmo Gastro Pub.  The food is great, fun atmosphere, fabulous drinks all in the Alpharetta/Johns Creek area...who knew.  Will definitely hit Kozmo up again...far more stuff to try on the food & drink menus.
